CoonteyMajora.Xena rdx.JPG
English: photo by James Burling Chase of Majora Carter and her dog Xena - an abandoned dog she rescued outside of the Point CDC on Manida Street in the South Bronx. This dog dragged her through an illegal garbage dump one morning and led Majora to discover a passage to the Bronx River. Eventually she rallied community members along with city, state, and federal dollars to create the Hunts Point Riverside Park there. In October 2006, she was married at this beautiful park with 300 of her friends and family members.
